Two leading ad agencies to handle $40-50m Bezeq acc't

Adler Chomski Warshevski - Grey and Bauman-Ber-Rivnay - Saatchi & Saatchi will set up an joint media operation.

Sources inform “Globes” that leading advertising firms Adler Chomski Warshevski Advertising Grey and Bauman-Ber-Rivnay Saatchi and Saatchi will set up an independent media operation to handle the $40-50 million media account of the Bezeq (TASE: BZEQ) group. The target date for the joint venture is October 1.

Industry sources say that in the first stage, the joint operation will handle the advertising accounts of Bezeq and Pele-Phone, while the YES satellite broadcasting company, whose account is handled by Universal-McCann of the McCann Erickson group will be excluded.

Bezeq is considering the consolidation of its media budget in order to obtain better media terms and create a stronger buying power. Industry sources predict that Bezeq will not hold a tender for its account, since as a company with mixed ownership, it is not obligated to hold tenders, as government companies are. Even in the initial contacts with advertising agencies, informed sources believe that if the proposed venture gets off the ground, it will have superior chances of winning the account. No response was received from the advertising firms, as of web posting.
