Scopus sells digital TV platform to Deutsche Telekom

The deal is estimated to be worth $3 million.

Israeli company Scopus Network Technologies will provide Deutsche Telekom (NYSE: DT) with a platform for broadcasting digital television channels to northern Italy. The deal is worth an estimated $3 million. Scopus develops broadband digital video broadcasting solutions.

Scopus said the multi-channel system would be based on technology facilitating remote control and monitoring. The equipment is installed at a broadcasting center in Milan, but the broadcasting is controlled and monitored from Germany.

Scopus was founded in 1995 as a spinoff from Tadiran, its mother company. Scopus has raised $25 million to date; its most recent financing round was in January 2001, when it raised $17 million from Pitango Venture Capital, Vertex Management Israel, Sadot, Formula, Shrem-Fudim-Kelner, Catalyst Venture Partners, and private investors, including Yossi Vardi. Koor Corporate Venture Capital invested the other $8 million over the years. Scopus has 180 employees in Israel, the US, India, China, and Mexico.
