BlockBuster launches movie trailer portal for mobile users

The project will be launched at the chain’s 250 video vending machines (Videomats) across Israel.

BlockBuster Israel Ltd., Israel’s largest chain for movie purchases and rentals, is launching a new mobile portal for 3G handsets, which will allow cellular customers to view trailers of films on display.

The first stage of the project will be launched at the chain’s 250 video vending machines (Videomats) across Israel, at a cost of NIS 300,000. Movies offered at those machines will have a two digit code, which when entered after calling the project's phone number, will launch the trailer on the customer's mobile phone.

The project is based on technology of DSP, an Israeli interactive site developer. .

Blockbuster Israel marketing and advertising manager Marko Nahmani said the project was the first to offer customers a chance to preview a movie trailer at the site of the movie rental. He added, "We see this as an important new step addressing the young, hip and predominantly mobile customer segment.”
