Elbit Systems wins Boeing, Australian Army deals

An Elbit Systems and Rockwell Collins unit will provide helmet systems for F-15E jets.

Elbit Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE: ESLT) today announced two follow-on contracts, one with Boeing Company (NYSE: BA), and the other to supply unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to the Australian Army.

Vision Systems International LLC (VSI), a joint venture between Elbit Systems and Rockwell Collins Inc. (NYSE: COL) will supply Boeing with Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS) in 145 F-15E Strike Eagles in a $17 million contract. VSI will also include dual-seat capable JHMCS hardware and pilot equipment, to include helmets and visors. Initial deliveries have already begun and will continue through mid-2009.

VSI president Drew Brugal said, “Getting our JHMCS on the Strike Eagle has been a key company goal since we started developing the system in 1996."

Elbit Systems also won its third order from the Australian Army for the company's Skylark I mini-UAV in a contract worth several million dollars. The Australian Department of Defence placed the first order in 2005.

The Skylark I is designed for day and night observation and data collection “beyond the hill” up to distances of 10-15 kilometers. It is a tactical system carried by infantrymen.
