Infrastructure firm enters energy market

Shapir Engineering requested information on bids worth NIS 200 million.

Shapir Marine and Civil Engineering Ltd., one of Israel's largest construction contractors, is entering the energy market for the first time. Sources inform ''Globes'' that the company has purchased requests for information for the natural gas distribution pipeline projects in the Dan region and southern region. The company is expected to submit bids in the tenders, which total NIS 200 million.

The Ministry of National Infrastructures published the two tenders in January. All of Israel's gas companies are expected to participate: Dor Alon Energy in Israel (1988) Ltd. (TASE:DRAL) subsidiary Dorgas Ltd., Granite Hacarmel Investments Ltd. (TASE: GRNT) subsidiary Supergas Ltd., Amisragas Ltd., and Paz Oil Company Ltd. (TASE:PZOL) subsidiary Pazgas Ltd. together with Serbian gas company, DP Novi Sad Gas.
