Radio Haifa in CNN deal

Radio Haifa has started hiring English-speaking correspondents from the Haifa and Krayot areas.

Radio Haifa has signed a cooperation agreement with CNN, which will come into effect in March. Radio Haifa will supply news reports to CNN, and will air CNN reports from around the world. Radio Haifa said that, as a result of this agreement, it is hiring English-speaking correspondents from the Haifa and Krayot areas.

Radio Haifa is the first radio station in the Middle East to sign a cooperation agreement with CNN.

Radio Haifa president Dan Nishlis said, "The Second Lebanon War revealed that our listeners weren’t receiving enough information on what was happening on the other side of the border. This partnership with CNN will enable their reporters around the world to report directly to Radio Haifa during high-profile news events, such as the forthcoming US Elections.”

Turner Broadcasting System senior VP and managing director Middle East Ron Ciccone said, "Israel remains a key region for us and we welcome any media partnership, be it TV, radio or online. CNN consistently over performs in Israel and the figures show that in a time of high profile breaking news, 40% of Israelis prefer CNN to any other international news channel* and we look forward to reaching an even wider audience in Israel through this deal with Radio Haifa.”

CNN International is broadcast in Israel via satellite broadcaster YES. Hot Cable Systems Media Ltd. (TASE: HOT) stopped airing CNN last year when the parties could not agreement on new contract terms.
