NICE wins Shanghai Airport multimillion dollar order

The company’s video and analytical systems will help boost airport capacity to 80 million passengers a year.

NICE Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: NICE; TASE: NICE) has won a multimillion dollar order from the Shanghai Pudong International Airport for the company’s IP-based video solution with content analytics. The airport will use the NICE solution to improve safety and security for a capacity of tens of millions passengers per year.

Shanghai Pudong International Airport handled more than 17 million passengers on international flights in 2006. The airport is planning to increase its capacity to 80 million passengers a year through three terminals, two satellite halls and five parallel runways. Airport managers will use NICE’s simultaneous advanced video content analytics system to to identify risk in real time, make optimal decisions, and take action that improves security efficiency. The NICE solution will enable Pudong with real-time threat detection capabilities, including automatic detection of unauthorized entry into secured areas, counting the number of people across multiple entries and exits, with trends analysis, and detection of illegally parked vehicles

Earlier this week, NICE won a contract from the New York City for its 911 call center, and the company unit Actimize won a contract to supply financial fraud prevention and anti-money laundering solutions to Credit Agricole SA (Paris:ACA). NICE closed at $38 yesterday on Nasdaq, giving it a market cap of $1.98 billion. The share rose 1.8% on the TASE by midday.
