Elbit System unit wins US Defense Dept. contracts

Tallahassee Technologies will supply tactical computers for the US Army and Marines.

Elbit Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE: ESLT) US subsidiary, Tallahassee Technologies Inc. (Talla-Tech) has won $14.4 million in US Department of Defense contracts for the company’s tactical computers.

The RPDA-57 is a fifth-generation multi-function military Rugged-Personal Data Assistant computer for the delivery of real-time data to harsh combat environments. The RPDA-57 has an Intel 520 MHz PXA-270 processor running on a 400Mhz processor bus, 128MB RAM and 64MB ROM in both a wireless and non-wireless configuration.

The Tacter-31M is a handheld or vehicle mounted multipurpose rugged computer designed to serve all combat echelons in the modern battlefield. The Tacter-31M has become the system of choice for the US Army and Marine Corps.

Elbit Systems’ share has reached record levels, exceeding $50 on Nasdaq last week. The share closed at $51.90 on Friday, and was up 3.5% on the TASE by mid-afternoon today.
