Bankers off to Washington for IMF-World Bank meeting

Stanley Fischer will also head a large Bank of Israel delegation.

Israel’s top bankers will meet in Washington in mid-October to attend the 2007 World Bank-IMF Annual Meeting. Governor of the Bank of Israel Prof. Stanley Fischer will also head a large delegation from the central bank. Fischer served as First Deputy Managing Director of the IMF in 1994-2001.

The participating Israeli bankers include new Bank Hapoalim chairman Dan Dankner and the bank’s CEO Zvi Ziv; Bank Leumi CEO Galia Maor, and possibly chairman Eitan Raff, too; Discount Bank chairman Shlomo Zohar; Mizrahi Tefahot Bank CEO Eli Yones; and new First International Bank CEO Smadar Barber-Tsadik and deputy CEO Zeev Guttman.

In addition to Fischer, the Bank of Israel delegation will include Deputy Governor Prof. Zvi Eckstein, chief of staff to the Governor Gaby Fiszman, director of research Dr. Karnit Flug, and foreign currency department director Barry Topf.
