SDS wins Defense Ministry contracts

The orders will boost the company’s backlog by 10%.

Star Night Technologies Ltd. (TASE:STNT) subsidiary SDS (Star Defense Systems) Ltd. (TASE:SDS) has won Ministry of Defense contracts worth NIS 33.5 million, which will boost the company’s orders backlog by 10%. NIS 28 million of the contract is for night-vision equipment for ground forces, and NIS 5.5 million for parachutes, flight suits, and other safety equipment. Deliveries will be made during 2009.

The orders will boost SDS’s orders backlog to NIS 245 million. 40% of the backlog is for a NIS 100 million order from the Indian Army, won in May. The company expects more orders from the Ministry of Defense for its night-vision equipment for delivery through 2011, but has not yet provided any indication of their size.
