"Financial News": Kreos among most influential VC firms

Kreos Capital invests a third of its funds in Israeli firms.

European venture lending fund Kreos Capital has been ranked ninth by private equity news magazine "Financial News" in its list of the top ten most influential investment entities in Europe. Also appearing on the list are Index Capital, 3i, Sofinnova Ventures, Intel Capital, and Tudor Ventures.

Kreos was selected after it invested $130 million in the first five months of 2007. It has invested in 200 companies in 12 countries across Europe to date, and in Israel. Kreos is Europe's largest venture lending fund, and its investors include Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank, and the European Investment Fund.

A few months ago, Kreos closed its third fund on $260 million. The fund has made 14 investments in Israel so far, five of them worth a total of $25 million, this year.

Kreos manages a total of $600 million, a third of which is invested in Israeli technology companies. According to general partner Raoul Stein, who is responsible for activity in Israel, it will invest $360 million in Israeli companies over the next three years.
