MoneyTree: High-tech cos raised $319m in VC in Q2

80 start-ups raised an average of $4 million each.

Israeli venture capital-backed high tech companies raised an aggregate $319 million during the second quarter of 2007, reports the MoneyTree quarterly survey by PricewaterhouseCooper Israel - Kesselman and Kesselman. The amount raised in the second quarter was 4% greater than the $307 million raised during the preceding quarter and 6% more than the $300 million raised during the corresponding quarter of 2006.

The MoneyTree survey adds that 80 high-tech start-ups raised capital during the second quarter, compared with 81 during the preceding quarter. The average financing round rose to $4 million from $3.8 million.
