Dorot provides Australian city with water technology

Gold Coast is investing $6.8 million in leakage prevention equipment.

Dorot Water Technologies Ltd., owned by Kibbutz Dorot, has begun a project for reducing water leakage in the city of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Dorot is providing its Hymod valves for the municipal water system, which the company says will cut leakage by 13,000 cubic meters of water a day when the project is completed.

Dorot says that the Gold Coast municipality will quickly recoup the AU $8 million (US $6.8 million) investment in the upgrade thanks to the reduction in leakage. Dorot added that the reduction in water pressure made possible by its Hymod valves also reduces the number of burst pipes, which also saves maintenance and repair costs.

Dorot marketing manager Ron Ziv says that most of the investment in project is for water meters and building, and that the company had already received $200,000 for valves delivered.
