Microsoft Israel seeks to import workers

The company has held a special jobs fair for Jews and Israelis working at its Redmond headquarters.

Microsoft Israel Ltd. is seeking international support in a new R&D tender. The company, which announced plans to hire 150 software developers three weeks ago, is apparently not relying on the motivation of locals to work for the software giant, and has contacted corporate headquarters in Redmond, Washington for suitable personnel. Microsoft Israel last week held a special jobs fair for Jews and Israelis working at Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT) to persuade them to come to work at the company’s new R&D center in Herzliya.

As “Globes” first reported, Microsoft Israel plans to hire 50 employees during the next quarter for the Herzliya center. The company is seeking three professional categories: security, telecommunications, and support, and is relying on the acquisitions Microsoft made in Israel over the past year.

At a press conference ahead of the opening of the R&D center, Microsoft Israel president R&D Moshe Lichtman said that the company was “on the verge of a major recruitment drive”.

At the jobs fair in Redmond, Microsoft Israel offered various jobs, including senior positions, to be filled in Herzliya. The company said 100 employees attended the jobs fair. Lichtman said, “The activity we initiated this week is an important component for the large recruitment drive we launched a few weeks ago, which has attracted thousands of applications to work at the various R&D centers.”
