Elbit Systems supplies coastal protection systems to Lithuania

The project is being financed by the EU and forms part of the plan to secure the borders of member countries.

Elbit Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE: ESLT) has won a $10 million contract to supply an integrated coastal security system to the Lithuanian Interior Ministry. The company said the system would be delivered through the end of 2007. The coastal security system will enable the protection of border checkpoints against smuggling and other criminal activities.

The project is being financed by the European Union under the auspices of the Schengen Information System, which is a system that enables authorities in member states to obtain information regarding certain categories of persons and property. Elbit Systems will provide a comprehensive solution including infrastructure, communications, control and monitoring software, observation towers, and control centers. It will also provide full training integration, logistical and support services.

Elbit's system is composed of radar, electro-optic, and video-navigation systems that enable long-range monitoring in both daytime and nighttime and in conditions of poor visibility. The data collated by the system is conveyed through smart systems to a network of vertically-assembled control rooms, where it is processed and analyzed and then forwarded to the relevant decision makers.
