“Bank of Israel salary farce will go on for years”

Senior Ministry of Finance official: The likelihood that management and the workers committee will ever reach an agreement is nearing zero.

Jerusalem District Labor Court Judge Eyal Avrahami today gave the Bank of Israel management and workers committee another extension, until April 1, to reach a new wage agreement. Both the summons to hearings that Ministry of Finance Director of Wages Eli Cohen issued and the labor sanctions at the central bank will be frozen until the end of the negotiations on the new wage agreement.

Bank of Israel workers committee chairperson Rimona Leibowitz represented the workers at the Labor Court hearing, and Bank of Israel general counsel Adv. Varda Lusthaus and former workers committee chairman Rafi Lankri represented management. The parties’ lawyers were also present.

A senior Ministry of Finance official expressed his disappointment at the delay in signing the new wage agreement. He said, “The likelihood that management and the workers committee will ever reach an agreement is nearing zero. The farce surrounding the wage agreement at the Bank of Israel will continue for years.”
