Cellular applications co Media Layers raises $3m

Cedar Fund made the investment.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that Israeli start-up Media Layers Ltd. recently closed a $3 million first financing round from Cedar Fund. Noam Man-El and CTO Nir Klar founded the company, which is operating in stealth mode, a few months ago.

IVC Online says the cellular applications company has 15 employees. The company’s website is under construction, and merely says, “Technologies, Services & Solutions for the New Media World.”

Man-El and Klar have a high-tech background. Mal-El was most recently responsible for CRM products and service development at Hutchison Australia. Prior to that, he was responsible for customer services at Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR; LSE:PCCD), after handling service and marketing for DEC and serving as a senior manager at Digital Israel.

Klar previously held senior positions at Xeround Systems Inc., Mobixell Networks Ltd. and IncrediMail Ltd. (Nasdaq:MAIL).

Cedar Fund manages $225 million.

Cedar Fund and Media Layers declined to comment on the report.
