Job Info: High-tech recruitment up 20% in 2006

This is the highest increase since 2002.

Figures released by the technologies job placement division at Job Info Group show a 20% increase in the number of hirings in the high-tech sector. This is the highest increase since 2002. At the same time, there has also been a marked rise in salaries pay in the sector. Job Info says the expansion has also been seen in an increase in help wanted ads, higher bonuses and use of “word of mouth” advertising campaigns.

Job Info says that the demand for software engineers rose by 11%, of which demand for Java engineers was the largest, increasing by 38%. Demand for Real Time programmers rose 25%, while demand for C++ programmers rose 17%. In hardware, demand for VLSI professionals rose 19%.

Demand for engineers specializing in software in Linux environments also rose due to the increasing trend among companies to switch to developing software for operating systems, and the growing importance that companies now attach to open source code software, and Linux in particular. “The number of engineers familiar with this operating environment is low compared with those who work in Windows’ environments,” said Job Info managing director Vardit Itzhaki.

The Internet is one field that enjoyed a marked revival in 2006, with the number of vacancies increasing 35%. Another noticeable trend in 2006 was the investment in strategies by data storage companies, which triggered a 25% increase in the number of hirings in this sector. Enterprise resources security was another sector that grew in 2006, with Job Info handling more than 900 vacancies in this sector.
