Indonesian wireless operator buys Amdocs 7

Market sources estimate the five-year contract to be worth tens of millions of dollars.

A day before the official launch, Amdocs Ltd. (NYSE: DOX) today announced its first contract for its new Amdocs 7 suite, which includes the Amdocs Billing 7, Amdocs CRM 7 and Amdocs Partner Manager 7 products. Amdocs will modernize the real-time business support systems (BSS) of Indonesian mobile communications service provider PT Excelcomindo Pratama Tbk. (XL), part of the TM group Malaysia, with the Amdocs 7 suite, under a five-year contract. Amdocs will also provide related maintenance services over this period. The present contract follows on an earlier one.

The size of the contract was not disclosed, but market sources estimate it at tens of millions of dollars.

XL currently has nine million subscribers. 96% of XL's subscribers are prepaid customers, and Amdocs' solution delivers convergent real-time prepaid-postpaid support, enhancing the customer experience of prepaid and postpaid subscribers, as well as customers who have combination plans. The Amdocs 7 suite will improve support for innovative, multi-play revenue engines.

Amdocs recently acquired Israeli start-up SigValue Technologies Inc., a supplier of prepaid billing platforms for communications operators in emerging markets, which the company considers future growth engines.

Amdocs chief marketing officer Michael Matthews said, "Amdocs 7 is the first industry-specific suite for convergence, able to support all next-generation services and deliver an integrated, innovative and intentional customer experience. Amdocs 7 -- the result of Amdocs' unique insight into the needs of the world's leading service providers -- will facilitate XL's goal of transforming itself into a leading multi-play provider. By expanding its relationship with Amdocs, XL will also reap cost advantages and minimize risk associated with its transformation."
