Metro Rail asks for Tel Aviv light railway injunction

"No irreversible action by the respondents relating to the tender should be allowed until we obtain all the tender documents for review."

The Metro Rail consortium, which lost the Tel Aviv light railway tender to MTS, has asked the Tel Aviv District Court for an ex parte injunction against MTS, until a decision on its appeal to allow it to review the tender documents. Metro Rail says no irreversible action by the respondents relating to the tender should be allowed until it obtains all the tender documents for review. The consortium claims that it has been able to obtain only some of these documents so far.

Metro Rail claims that it has not yet received the most important and material documents, including MTS’s offer and the reports and opinions concerning the method of digging the subway stations, and the light railway’s rolling stock.

The MTS consortium won the Tel Aviv light railway Red Line tender with a bid of NIS 1.76 billion. Metro Rail’s bid was NIS 7.5 billion. The 22-km. Red Line will run from Petah Tikva, through Ramat Gan, Tel Aviv and Jaffa to Bat Yam.
