Tripod Technology bought $2.3 million worth of automated optical inspection systems for its new Chinese fab.

Camtek Ltd. (Nasdaq: CAMT; TASE:CAMT) has sold $2.3 million worth of automated optical inspection (AOI) systems to Taiwanese semiconductor company Tripod Technology Corporation (TSEC:3044). The order includes Pegasus 200S, Camtek's new model for inspecting finished HDI boards, and Dragon FL for inspecting fine-line PCB panels.

The majority of the systems were installed at Tripod's new plant in Wuxi, mainland China, in the fourth quarter of 2006. The balance of the order will follow during the first quarter of 2007.

Camtek rose 4.1% in afternoon on the TASE.

In late 2006 Camtek published a profit warning, after which CIBC downgraded its recommendation for the share to “Market perform” at a target price of $5.
