Hershy Friedman to invest $3m in computer co Fourier

Fourier is bidding for a share in the “Computer for every child” program in the US.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that Canadian millionaire Hershy Friedman will invest $3 million in Fourier Systems Ltd., company which develops and markets computers for the education sector. Fourier is interested in raising investment in order to finance its attempts to obtain a share in the “Computer for Every Child” project in the US, which it believes will make a significant contribution to its revenue in coming years.

Fourier was founded in 1996, and originally focused on data-logging applications for industrial applications. It later adapted its product range for use in the scientific education market. The company’s device works through a connection to sensors, which gather environmental data on temperature, light, humidity, and various atmospheric pressures. Its devices are used in research laboratories to gather data which can then be transferred to a computer, whose software can then analyze it. Over the last two years, Fourier, has focused on gaining a share in the “Computer for Every Child” project in the US, through its Nova 5000 Next Generation Student Learning Appliance, a WinCE-based tablet PC.
