Online backgammon "criminal activity" in Israel

The police warned online backgammon operator Interlogic to desist immediately.

The Israel Police today warned Interlogic, the operator of online backgammon site Play65, where games are played with real money, to immediately desist from “organized gambling activity in Israel”. The demand is based on a decision by the State Prosecutor’s Office that such gambling is illegal.

In the warning, the police told Interlogic that the State Prosecutor’s Office and the police viewed the operation of a gambling website for backgammon as a criminal act, with all that that implies.

The police also notified credit card companies that any collaboration with companies organizing online gambling, including the provision of clearing services for these companies, whether directly or indirectly, constituted a criminal act, and that they must desist immediately.

Play65 sponsors sports broadcasts on Channel 1.
