Ceragon to supply emergency wireless network to Houston

The contract is worth more than $700,000.

Wireless communications solutions provider Ceragon Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: CRNT; TASE:CRNT) is expanding into the homeland security sector. The company announced today that Houston, the fourth largest city in the US, is deploying Ceragon's FibeAir IP-MAX to increase network capacity and provide disaster-proof, wireless communication for homeland security. The first order is valued at over $700,000.

Houston is utilizing Ceragon's IP solution to create a high-capacity, secure wireless network ring around the city, providing private network backhaul for IP cameras, access control and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) management of point-to-point systems. The FibeAir IP-MAX is being deployed with 400 Mbps fast ethernet at frequencies of 11 GHz.

Ceragon said that the deployment would be implemented through Hutton Communications, its local distributor, and system integrator Johnston Technical Services.

Ceragon CEO Ira Palti said, “With the growing awareness for disaster-proof communications, municipalities and public safety organizations are turning to wireless communication solutions. This project is further validation of our ability to provide complete communication backbone solutions for the fast-growing market of municipal networks.”

Ceragon currently has a market cap of $140 million, after gaining 35% since the beginning of the year.
