NICE to provide monitoring system New York subway

NICE: Our applications will help the MTA reconstruct scenarios and review events "to confirm what happened, where and when it happened, and who was involved."

NICE Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: NICE; TASE: NICE) will provide Metropolitan Transit Authority New York City Transit’s new Rail Control Center a solution to capture, reconstruct, and analyze voice communications. NICE is supplying the system via its partner, Siemens Transportation Systems Inc.

The New York subway is a century old, and been undergoing extensive upgrades in recent years. These include building the world’s largest rail control center. NICE will provide the center with a communications recording system, which includes a scenario replay solution and an information-sharing system.

NICE said its applications will help the agency reconstruct scenarios and review events "to confirm what happened, where and when it happened, and who was involved." This will make it possible for the New York City Transit to precisely and efficiently reconstruct events and provide better service to the public.

NICE Systems VP Public Safety Division Chris Wooten said, "New York City Transit is one of the premier transit systems in the world. We're very excited to have been selected for this important project and we look forward to helping NYCT build on its long-standing reputation for efficient, dependable and safe transit service."

New York City Transit is one of the most complex public transportation systems in the world, and is one of the world’s largest public transportation companies. It provides bus and subway services to all of the city’s five boroughs. The city’s subway network includes 27 routes, 722 miles of track and 468 stations, and carries 4.5 million passengers per day.
