3 Sweden deploys Comverse’s Fun Dial

Proceeds from the contract are likely to reach $1-2 million.

Comverse Technology (Nasdaq: CMVT) subsidiary Comverse, a provider of value added services, today announced that it had signed a contract with 3G wireless provider 3 Sweden. The Swedish company is buying Comverse’s Fun Dial solution, and will market it under the FriendTones service name.

Market sources believe that revenue from the deal is likely to reach $1-2 million. Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. (Hong Kong Stock Exchange: 0013) owns 60% of 3 Sweden, and other investors own 40%.

Comverse said that its Fun Dial solution enables operators to provide ringbacktone service to replace ordinary telephone ringing, busy signals, and waiting call signals with content chosen by the user.

This content can consist of music, humor, voice effects, or personal and business messages. In addition, the Fun Dial solution makes it possible to adapt the sound to the caller’s telephone number, or the telephone numbers of a group of callers (customers, family, friends, etc.).

The Fun Dial system provides an end-to-end solution including an advanced content management systems and choice of content guaranteed under agreements signed with international content providers. The system is quickly updated with new content, and makes it possible to derive maximum benefit from new content created for holidays and key events, such as sporting and entertainment events. The Fun Dial solution also supports prepaid billing, and provides statistical tools for analyzing consumer behavior.
